| American toasted sandwich restaurant chain to enter India Posted: 06 Feb 2011 10:26 PM PST FBR Staff Writer Published 07 February 2011 Quiznos, a toasted sandwich restaurant chain specialized in subs, salads and soups, has signed a master franchise deal to open the first Quiznos restaurant in India as part of the company's international expansion efforts. The company said that its plans for now entail the development of five Quiznos restaurants in the country by the end of the year, with the first one scheduled to open in May 2011. Quiznos granted master franchising rights for Southern India to Arjun Valluri. The region encompasses cities including Bangalore, Kochi, Chennai and Hyderabad. Valluri is an experienced franchisee who has brought a variety of restaurant concepts to southern India. He currently operates 15 Xtreme Sports Bar locations and 3 Caffe Latte concepts. With this partnership, Quiznos plans to open at least 40 locations in India. Store menus in India will feature Quiznos' signature toasted sandwiches and flatbread Sammies, as well as the chef-inspired salads, sides and desserts for which Quiznos is known. The menu will also feature some local customization, including new custom sauces and dressings reflecting the flavors of traditional Indian cuisine, Indian grains incorporated into the bread and a broader variety of vegetarian selections. The locations in India will also offer coffee and yogurt to round out the menu and provide a complete dining experience typical of local customer preferences. Over the next few years, Quiznos plans to grow the brand's international footprint to more than 40 countries and territories, with target markets in Central and South America, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. With a global rise in entrepreneurialism and many of the costs of entry at or near historic lows, Quiznos international expansion is designed to meet growing interest and demand from prospective master franchisees in both developed and emerging markets.
