GUILFORD TOWNSHIP -- The Quiznos on Lincoln Way East in Guilford Township will hit the auction block Monday.

The sub shop at 1660 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, closed about a month ago after being in business for nearly seven years.

Franchisee Rush McKee said he ultimately decided to close the business because of a combination of factors.

"The primary reason is we wanted to retire. I had no interested parties that wanted to purchase the Quiznos. We decided to close it because it wasn't profitable and auction it off," McKee said.

Auctioneer Terry L. Shetter said the business will be first offered as whole, with the new owners to taking over the lease at the time of sale. If there are no takers, the restaurant appliances and fixtures will be auctioned as individual items.

The Lincoln Way East Quiznos opened in October 2003, according to John Birkeland, a broker with York-based Springwood Commercial Realty.

Quiznos occupied about 2,000 square feet in the Lincoln Way East Plaza anchored by Aldi, Jo-Ann Fabrics and Dunham's Sports.

The former Trak Auto store, an auto parts dealer, was divided into smaller units that housed the Quiznos and a Movie Gallery store, which has since closed.

The auction of Quiznos is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the site of the store.

McKee also operates Quiznos locations on Gateway Avenue in Chambersburg and in Gettysburg. He also operated the Quiznos on Wayne Avenue, Chambersburg, that closed about

three years ago.
