Jurors still deliberating in Quiznos murder trial Posted: 23 Sep 2010 10:24 PM PDT After nearly nine hours of deliberation, jurors in the John McBurnett murder trial were sent home Thursday evening without having reached a verdict. Judge Ron Rangel sent the group home just before 7 p.m. and ordered jurors to return to the 379th District Court at 8 a.m. today to continue the process. McBurnett, 22, could face up to life in prison if found guilty of the June 9, 2007, slaying of a Quiznos employee outside the Broadway restaurant. Nathan Ramirez, 20, was shot once in the spine after a fight as a Ford Bronco that McBurnett was a passenger in drove away. Three of the five people in the vehicle have been indicted on murder charges, but prosecutors have said McBurnett was the triggerman. McBurnett's attorneys said during closing arguments Thursday that he was being framed by others in the vehicle who were in a gang together. McBurnett never had held a gun in his life, the defense contended.
