READING - The 2nd Annual Reading Fall Street Faire will take place on Sunday, September 12, 2010, from 12 – 5 pm in downtown Reading. It promises to be bigger and better than last year's affair - adding more events, street and food vendors.

"Drawing on the success of last year, we were able to create more events that offer something for everyone in the family," said Faire Committee Chair Sheila Clarke. "We have 140 street vendor reservations which are up from 80 last year. This should provide lots of shopping, food, arts and crafts."

The fun-filled day kicks off at 11 a.m. with a 5K run through beautiful neighborhood streets sponsored by Reading Athletic Club. At noon the booths open and events begin. In the municipal lot behind CVS, Faire goers will be able to view the Patriots' season opener at a Patriots' Tailgate Party on big screen televisions sponsored by Doyon's TV and Appliance. Around the corner Reading Co-operative Bank's parking lot will host a Chili Cook-Off event, which is sure to be another crowd pleaser. Radio Disney will sponsor the Children's Area in the parking lot next to The Olde Redding Butcher Shoppe. This area will have several bouncy inflatables and a trackless train for youngsters eight and younger. For the older kids and young-at-heart adults, a new amusement area is at the end of Haven Street in front of the train station. Test your skills on the mechanical bull, challenge your friends to the inflatable obstacle course or take your aim at the fun flush.

Don't plan to eat before you attend the faire. Many local restaurants will have their specialty items for sale. Dine on food from AJ's Kitchen, Anthony's Roast Beef, Quiznos, Bertucci's, Barkin' Bite Hot Dogs, Christopher's Restaurant, Deb's Cookies, Di Cara's Deli, Gregory's, Harrow's Chicken Pies, Olde Redding Butcher Shoppe, Reading Hot Chili Peppers, Reading Lions' Club, Sammy Jo's Bakery & Café, Sandrino's Catering, Starbucks, The Chocolate Truffle, Twin Seafood and Sam's Bistro. Try a unique outdoor dining experience, when the Venetian Moon restaurant takes over the parking lot in front of their business and serves their full menu – beer and wine included. Complete service will be available inside the restaurant, which will be open during the Faire.

Other events include an antique car show sponsored and hosted by Barile Family Funeral Home. Everything but the Dog, Pet Companions, Bark-n-Roll, and Wonder Walks will host a Best in Show Dog Competition on Chute Street.

The Reading Fall Street Faire, which is expected to draw large crowds, will take place, Sunday, September 12, from noon until 5 p.m., rain or shine, in and around Haven Street and Reading Common.

More information for these and other events can be found on the Faire web site www.readingfallstreetfaire.com. Programs mapping out vendor locations and entertainment schedules will be available at the Faire.
